    Dr. Jaydevsinh (Jay) Dolia is an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Neurology at Emory University School of Medicine. He is passionate about early exposure to Interventional Neurology for medical students/residents and seeks to address the gaps in Neuroendovascular training using simulators. He is deeply committed to social media strategy and digital education. He is a co-founder of @YoungNIR, one of the largest social media platforms for Neurointervention, helping to enhance trainee experiences.   • Leah Acosta, MD, MPH, FAAN (she/her)

    Dr. Lealani Mae (Leah) Acosta is an Associate Professor of Neurology specializing in neurodegenerative memory disorders. She completed residency training in Neurology at the University of Virginia and fellowship in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology at the University of Florida, focusing on creativity, stemming in part from her interests in poetry, drawing, and calligraphy. Her range of publications reflects these varied interests, including peer-reviewed research articles, medical fiber arts, and creative writing, both prose and poetry, which have appeared in publications such as JAMA, JAMA Neurology, and Neurology. She serves as an associate editor for the Humanities section of the journal Neurology. Her clinical and research interests include Alzheimer's disease and normal pressure hydrocephalus. As a clinician educator, she serves as fellowship director for the Vanderbilt Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology fellowship, College Mentor for the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and was a 2023 inductee into the Vanderbilt Academy for Excellence in Education.

  • Neishay Ayub, MD (she/her)

    Dr. Neishay Ayub is an Assistant Professor at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She received her MD at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her Neurology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and her Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship as well as her Epilepsy fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She serves as the Epilepsy Fellowship Director and as the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer at Brown Neurology. Throughout her career, she has been interested in education, epilepsy surgery, quality improvement, as well as global and domestic health disparities. She has received several honors and awards, including a Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award and Neurology Faculty Teaching Award. Dr. Ayub is grateful to join the NDEC Institute in order to better incorporate diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice into the larger Neurology digital community dialogue.

  • Sinan Turnacioglu, MD (he/him)

    Dr. Sinan Turnacioglu is a neurodevelopmental pediatrician at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and is board certified in child neurology and neurodevelopmental disabilities. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center and practiced general pediatrics for five years before completing additional training in neurodevelopmental disabilities at Children's National. He is interested in new treatments for autism spectrum disorder and likes working with families to support their children's developmental needs. Dr. Turnacioglu grew up in New Jersey and currently lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife, two children and their dog. He enjoys running, playing tabletop games and reading.

  • Uma Menon, MD, MBA, FACNS, FAES, FAAN, FANA (she/her)

    Dr. Uma Menon is a board-certified Neurologist and Epileptologist who is an Associate Professor and Chief of Neurology at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), Atlanta. She is also MSM's inaugural Neurology Residency Program Director (2023). Dr. Menon has been involved in teaching throughout her career and has published extensively and presented at several national and international meetings. She is an ardent patient and physician advocate and routinely participates in educational forums for professionals, patients, and the general public. Dr. Menon is passionate about ethics, advocacy, equity, and anti-racism in Neurology and medicine.

  • William Kilgo, MD (he/him)

    Dr. Kilgo received his medical degree and completed his residency training in neurology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed a neuroimmunology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Kilgo serves as the Director of the Neuroimmunology and MS Clinic, recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a Partner in MS Care. He is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology with a special interest in advocacy. He also serves as the neurology residency program director at the University of South Alabama.

  • Mohamed A. Tarek MD, MSc, FEBN

    Dr. Tarek was born in Sohag, Egypt, where he finished his medical school at the Faculty of Medicine, Sohag University, and started his Neurology residency at Sohag University Hospitals. During his residency, he completed his Master's degree in Neuropsychiatry. Later on, he received the Fellow of the European Board of Neurology title after passing the exam of the European board of neurology. He received a grant for a clinical fellowship from the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Vascular and interventional neuroradiology at Roger Salengro Hospital, Lille, France. After that, He decided to continue his career as a clinician-scientist, and did a one-year Neuroendovacular research fellowship at Marcus Stroke & Neuroscience Center, Emory University, where he is completing the second year of his StrokeNet fellowship. He is also a Ph.D. candidate at Sohag University, Faculty of Medicine, and an upcoming clinical stroke fellow at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada.

  • Johanna Seiden, MD, MPH (she/her)

    Dr. Johanna Seiden is a vascular neurologist. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biopsychology from Tufts University in 2012 and her combined MD/MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2018. She completed neurology residency in 2022 at Montefiore Medical Center where she was chief resident in her final year. She underwent a clinical fellowship in vascular neurology at NYU Langone in 2023. Dr. Seiden practices both vascular and general neurology at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY..

  • Kamakshi Patel, MD, MPH (she/her)

    Dr. Kamakshi Patel's background is in academic medicine as a clinician, educator, mentor, and administrator. She is a senior faculty member at the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center (VAMC)/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Patel educates medical students, residents, and clinical neurophysiology/Epilepsy fellows. She has previously held positions as Associate Neurology Program Director and Neurology Program Director. She is passionate about education and interested in innovative trainee and public education approaches.

  • Shivika Chandra, MD (she/her)

    Dr. Shivika Chandra is a board-certified neurologist specializing in movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. She is an Assistant Professor in the department of Neurology at the McGovern Medical School and serves as the medical director for Neurology for LBJ Hospital and UTHealth-Houston clinics in Harris Health. She is also the associate clerkship director and the co-director of the UT-Houston HDSA Center of Excellence. A clinician-educator, her areas of interest are medical education (including telemedicine education), advocacy and health disparities. Her research interests include clinical trials in movement disorders and improving systems of care. Outside work, she enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

  • Sonam Bhalla, MD (she/her)

    Dr. Bhalla is a Pediatric Epileptologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and is an Assistant Professor at Emory University School of Medicine. She also serves as Co-Director of the Neonatal Neurology Program and Site Director for ACGME accredited Pediatric Clinical Neurophysiology/ Epilepsy fellowship program. She has always been fascinated with the nervous system and thoroughly enjoyed studying it in medical school in Mumbai, India. During her final year of medical school, she pursued an international elective at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, N.Y., to learn more about the advances in pediatric neurology, which inspired her to undertake further training in the U.S. She completed her child neurology residency at University of Louisville, where she served as chief resident and received the Chairmen’s Achievement Award for her scholarly activities. During residency, she pursued additional training at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C in neonatal neurology. The pathophysiology of epilepsy always intrigued her, so she pursued an additional fellowship in Pediatric Epilepsy at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her clinical practice entails various childhood and neonatal neurological disorders focusing on epilepsy. She is interested in clinical as well as quality-driven research and is currently leading her institution in several research projects including infantile spasms study, pediatric epilepsy learning healthcare system related projects, QI in infantile spasms and status epilepticus management, etc. She enjoys working in an academic setting where she can continue to teach and work closely with medical students, residents and fellows.

  • Sara Stern-Nezer, MD, MPH (she/her)

    Dr. Sara Stern-Nezer is an Assistant HS Professor and Division Chief of Neurocritical Care at University of California, Irvine. She completed her medical training and residency at Stanford and then fellowship in neurocritical care at UCLA. Her research interests focus on increasing understanding and engagement in neurology in undergraduate medical education, educational interventions to limit weight-bias in medicine and leadership development. At UC Irvine, she has her dream job, taking care of patients and inspiring the next generation of doctors and neurologists. She wears many hats in the clinical, research and teaching worlds, and directs the neurology clerkship and the first-year neurosciences course, in addition to teaching clinical foundations longitudinally in her role as Dean’s Scholar.
